Villa Friuli

A clear ambition to create a highly functional, private and architecturally resolved family home.

One of the primary challenges was working with the natural fall of the land while maximising usable space and minimising the need for excessive retaining or level changes. The design carefully negotiates this topography, allowing the home to sit comfortably within the landscape without feeling imposed or overly engineered.

01 — Site & Positioning

Designed to sit naturally within the land.

The home responds directly to the fall of the site, working with the terrain rather than against it. Careful planning allowed usable space to be maximised while avoiding excessive retaining or level changes.

Positioned toward the southern boundary, the approach opens to expansive green space before revealing the home. Living areas are oriented north to capture light, while the building form provides protection from the western sun.

02 — Layout & Living

Defined spaces, connected living.

The layout was designed to clearly separate family and guest zones, while maintaining a strong sense of flow throughout the home.

Open living areas are balanced with more private spaces, allowing the home to function equally well for everyday use and larger gatherings. The scale is generous, but carefully controlled so the home remains proportionate within its setting.
